Strategic Commercial Role | Property Development & Investment

We're seeking an experienced Commercial Finance Manager to become a trusted adviser to the Directors of a successful privately owned property development and investment group.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Directors, you will oversee the financial management of a complex group of entities while providing commercial insight across acquisitions, developments, investments, leasing and joint ventures.

This role extends well beyond traditional accounting. You will be expected to understand the commercial drivers of the business, challenge assumptions, model opportunities and provide sound financial advice that supports informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

•  Manage the accounting and financial reporting for multiple SPVs and associated entities.
• Oversee all statutory reporting, including BAS, IAS and year-end financial reporting.
• Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting and treasury across the group.
• Maintain strong financial controls and reporting systems.
• Review, optimise and continually improve the company's QuickBooks environment and accounting processes.

Commercial Business Partnering·      

• Provide strategic financial advice to support business growth.
• Prepare financial modelling and feasibility analysis for development opportunities and acquisitions.
• Evaluate investment opportunities through scenario planning and sensitivity analysis.
• Support commercial lease negotiations by providing financial analysis, modelling leasing structures, incentives and commercial outcomes.
• Assist with taxation planning and work collaboratively with external tax advisers.
• Provide financial oversight and reporting for joint venture projects.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to maximise business performance.

Strategy & Execution

While this is a highly strategic role, it is equally important that you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function. This is a standalone finance role, so success will come for someone who is comfortable moving seamlessly between high-level commercial advice and practical financial administration.

• Prepare and process a small payroll.
• Process supplier invoices and manage accounts payable.
• Manage accounts receivable and banking as required.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and reconciliations.
• Complete month-end processes and routine financial administration.
• Balance strategic commercial support with the discipline of ensuring the finance function runs smoothly every day.

You will thrive in this role if you enjoy being the person who can discuss the financial viability of a multi-million dollar development in the morning and then ensure payroll, invoices and reconciliations are completed accurately in the afternoon. The Directors are looking for someone who takes pride in both the strategic and operational aspects of finance.

Key Selection Criteria:

• CPA or CA qualification
• Extensive experience in a senior finance role
• Strong knowledge of trust accounting and multi-entity group structures
• Excellent commercial acumen and business judgement
• Advanced financial modelling and forecasting skills
• Experience evaluating investments and development opportunities
• Strong understanding of taxation principles and business structures
• Demonstrated ability to influence business decisions through clear financial analysis
• Experience improving accounting systems and financial processes
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage directly with senior decision-makers

Experience within property development, commercial property, property investment or construction is not essential but will be highly regarded.

You’ll assist with all facets of funeral preparation and delivery, ensuring every service is carried out to the highest standards of professionalism and respect. The role is physical and varied, and suited to someone who works calmly and purposefully under pressure.

If you join our Funeral Assistant team, key responsibilities include:

• Attending and supporting funeral services with attention to timing and impeccable presentation
• Providing discreet, respectful support to client families and mourners such as handing out memorial cards, assisting people to sign memorial books and complete donation forms
• Supporting Funeral Directors during services and viewings
• Anticipating needs and assisting in the smooth coordination of every funeral
• Serving tea, coffee and refreshments

If you join our Operations Team, key responsibilities will also include:

• Setting up and packing down at cemeteries and venues (chairs, canopies, equipment, etc.)
• Vehicle care, general cleaning, and facility maintenance

You may not have considered a role in the funeral industry before but if you have experience as a retail assistant, working in hospitality, as a delivery driver, or any type of customer service role, this will be a great opportunity for you!

About You

About You

You are someone who:

• Has at least 1 to 2 years marketing experience including leadership or supervisory responsibility
• Demonstrated experience managing activities across brand and digital marketing channels
• Previous experience managing external agencies, freelancers and marketing suppliers
• Experience within B2B, industrial, technical or reseller-based environments
• Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in accuracy.
• Is reliable, punctual and comfortable working on-site full-time.
• Communicates professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
• Is proactive, accountable and follows through on commitments.
• Works well in a small team environment and brings a positive, can-do attitude.

A Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Business, Communications or related discipline will be highly regarded, as will knowledge of Adobe Suite / Canva or equivalent design platforms
