Positions available within WA, however applicants must be flexible to attend occasional training and work interstate.

 

About the Opportunity 

 

This role is a development opportunity for either diploma/degree graduates or industry experienced candidates who are looking for the next step in their careers. 

 

As an IPM Consultant you will visit clients to monitor pest activity and determine the efficacy of management programmes.

 

Consulting responsibilities will include: 

  • Monitoring pests/ beneficials and disease levels in relevant horticultural crops and organize beneficial orders between distributors, growers and the WA/SA offices. 
  • Developing reports that detail recommendations, and actively follow up any grower issues or concerns to find solutions.
  • Developing monitoring schedules, arranging to visit growers and distributors.
  • Delivering beneficials to growers and demonstrate release methods.
  • Taking samples from crops for laboratory analysis and prepare for dispatch.
  • Building strong relationships with growers, by giving them regular, high-quality service.
  • Frequent visits to the horticulture growing regions around Perth, with fortnightly long-distance travelling to Geraldton and the South-West (Pemberton) during peak season 

This position will suit you if you are looking for a long-term opportunity to build and develop a career as an IPM Consultant. Occasional long-distance travel will also be required.

 

About You

 

To be successful in this role you need to be an effective communicator who can build strong relationships with growers. 

 

You are either a recent graduate or have learnt experience in the industry or similar field. You will need the capability to apply an understanding of the breeding cycle of beneficials and their prey; as well as an eagerness and willingness to learn and develop in this role. 

 

You will:

  • Competently work autonomously, managing own time and workload
  • Be capable and willing to manage the admin requirements of the role
  • Be committed to observing quarantine and restricted movement rules to ensure that cross contamination does not occur
  • Demonstrate high proficiency in all types of communication
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook
  • Be strongly aligned to our values, including contributing to the development of sustainable growing practices in Australia
  • Be physically fit, with good eyesight, and capable of spending long hours in outdoor and protected cropping growing environments
  • Be a constructive team member by actively contributing to team activities and strictly complying with company policies and procedures, such as submitting orders, timesheets, and annual leave applications on time

Ideally you have completed a Diploma or Degree in entomology or a similar science discipline. Experience in horticulture, agriculture or nursery environment will be highly regarded.
